Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Flyers vs. Axtell Wildcats

The Franklin Flyers will face off against the Axtell Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Axtell took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin, who comes in off a win.

Franklin is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over Elba on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Axtell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Southwest and fell 71-22. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Roughriders are ranked 38th).

Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.

Franklin ended up a good deal behind Axtell in their previous matchup back in February of 2016, losing 50-33. Can Franklin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
