Softball Game Preview: St. Paul Buckaroos vs. Perrydale Pirates

The St. Paul Buckaroos will head out to square off against the Perrydale Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Perrydale took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Paul, who comes in off a win.

St. Paul's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Western Christian as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Buckaroos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, while it was Perrydale who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Kennedy who put up more. The Pirates came up short against the Trojans, falling 13-6. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isabelle Arthur was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 11 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Arthur was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Arthur wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Eichler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Paul and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Perrydale, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

St. Paul couldn't quite get it done against Perrydale in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 11-7. Can the Buckaroos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
