Basketball Recap: Chaelyn Tifre and Evie Godfrey Secure Win for River Bluff

River Bluff lost to Irmo back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Gators walked away with a 69-62 victory over the Yellow Jackets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Leading River Bluff to victory were Evie Godfrey and Chaelyn Tifre. Godfrey went 10-for-19 to rack up 29 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Tifre dropped a double-double with 22 points and 18 boards. Those 29 points gave Godfrey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Tucker, who posted eight points.

River Bluff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abby Livingston, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds. Livingston has become a key player for Irmo: the team is 9-2 when she posts at least eight boards, but 5-6 otherwise. Lailah Singletary was another key player, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

River Bluff now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Irmo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-8.

River Bluff wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-39 loss against Chapin on the 6th. As for Irmo, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-46 win against White Knoll on the 6th.
