Softball Recap: Eastern Hancock Comes Up Short

Eastern Hancock had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 11-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Shenandoah Raiders, falling 12-2. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Eastern Hancock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilli Ringer, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Shenandoah, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Shenandoah's side, the team relied heavily on Gabrielle Patrick, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Patrick has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lydia Schwagmeier, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Eastern Hancock and Shenandoah are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Royals will face off against Christel House at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shenandoah, they will be playing at home against Wes-Del at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
