Baseball Recap: Mira Monte Takes a Loss

Mira Monte extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They lost 16-6 to the Arvin Bears. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly ten runs.

Aaron Oliveros made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Arvin, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

On Arvin's side, Daniel Ramirez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Ramirez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Noe Perez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaime Pantoja, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

While Mira Monte had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
