Softball Recap: Maloney Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wethersfield on Wednesday, Maloney came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Tolland Eagles by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Maloney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliviah Garcia-Matyka, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Alaina High-Aresco was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Maloney now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tolland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Maloney didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 defeat against Edwin O. Smith on the 16th. Tolland has also already played their next contest (against Middletown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
