Basketball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington lost against Dutch Fork back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lexington Wildcats came up short against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, falling 70-47. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Silver Foxes are ranked 21st).

Dutch Fork's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Garner, who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Garner is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Samajae Govan, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 14 points and six boards.

Lexington has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Dutch Fork, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lexington will host White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lexington is facing White Knoll at the right time seeing as White Knoll is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dutch Fork, they will welcome River Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River Bluff will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Dutch Fork surely won't give up without a fight.
