Basketball Recap: Lenawee Christian Beats Concord for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Lenawee Christian came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 64-54 win over the Concord Yellowjackets. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lenawee Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Salenbien, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points. Salenbien's evening made it 24 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Kaulins, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jett Smith, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 16 points along with six assists and three steals. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last three games he's played. Connor Stevens was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Lenawee Christian's win bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Concord, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-10.

Lenawee Christian has already played their next contest, a 56-43 defeat against Tri-Unity Christian on the 11th. Concord does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
