Softball Recap: Comer Comes Up Short

Comer extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-25. They lost 13-0 to the West End Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Friday.

As for West End, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Considering they have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For West End's part, Shelby Wall got the start for West End and what a start it was: she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wall has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West End let Kennedi Nix and Braylee King run wild. Nix went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while King went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI King has posted over her last 12 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzli Nix, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Comer has already played their next matchup, a 20-5 loss against Randolph County on the 21st. As for West End, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Munford on the 18th.
