Basketball Recap: Norcom Comes Up Short

Norcom lost against Norview back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Norcom Greyhounds fell 57-46 to the Norview Pilots. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Pilots are ranked 22nd).

Norview was led to victory by Marquise Jones Jr and Zymareon Mitchell. Jones Jr went 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points and three steals, while Mitchell posted 16 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Jones Jr now owns an excellent 45.7% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Keon Mitchell, who had eight points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

Norcom has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Norview, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Norcom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-40 loss against Manor on the 10th. As for Norview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-45 victory against Denbigh on the 8th.
