Basketball Game Preview: Cranston East Thunderbolts vs. Classical Purple

The Cranston East Thunderbolts will take on the Classical Purple in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cranston East will be strutting in after a win while Classical will be coming in after a loss.

Last Saturday, Cranston East sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 victory over Mt. Hope. That's two games straight that the Thunderbolts have won by exactly three points.

Meanwhile, Classical unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of La Salle Academy by a score of 51-49 on Friday. The Purple's defeat signaled the end of their 24-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Cranston East was dealt a bruising 82-50 loss at the hands of Classical in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Cranston East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
