Basketball Recap: Krista Hugo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nunamiut over Jimmy Huntington

Nunamiut lost against Jimmy Huntington last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Nunamiut Amaguq fell just short of the Jimmy Huntington Hustlers by a score of 42-40. The Amaguq have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nunamiut's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Krista Hugo, who posted 22 points. Hugo's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Anna Nukapigak was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Jimmy Huntington found their leader in sophomore Carmen Vent, who had 19 points. With that strong performance, Vent is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Serenity Bifelt, who earned 11 points.

Nunamiut's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Jimmy Huntington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jimmy Huntington beat Nunamiut by a score of 40-26 on Saturday.
