Softball Preview: Elgin Maroons vs. Glenbard East Rams
Elgin is 0-9 against Glenbard East since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Elgin Maroons will head out on the road to take on the Glenbard East Rams at 4:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Elgin came up short against Harvest Christian Academy and fell 11-8.
Madision King put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. King was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
In other batting news, Grace Tetrev and Monica Martinez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tetrev scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Martinez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Glenbard East scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. They never let Aurora East onto the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Glenbard East, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Elgin, Glenbard East also got a great game from a two-way player: Marley Szeluga. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Szeluga was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
