Somerset Academy South Homestead takes loss despite strong efforts from Joann Barnes and Justice Sheppard

The Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Palmer Trinity 46-42. Somerset Academy South Homestead has not had much luck with Palmer Trinity recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Justice Sheppard and Joann Barnes certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Sheppard dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Barnes scored nine points. Sheppard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.

Palmer Trinity's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Laria, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Esparza, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Palmer Trinity, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Palmer Trinity, they will head out on the road to square off against Doral Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Doral Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
