Basketball Game Preview: Byers Bulldogs vs. Wiggins Tigers

Two dominant guards in Quincy Eacret and Jackson Adams are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Byers Bulldogs will welcome the Wiggins Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Wiggins is hoping to do what Kiowa couldn't back in December of 2024: put an end to Byers' winning streak, which now stands at four games. Byers blew past Kiowa 65-21. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

Byers relied on the efforts of Charles Butterfield, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, and James Maes, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points. Those 14 points gave Butterfield a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Gaudot, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Byers was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wiggins, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Haxtun on Saturday, sneaking past 55-53.

Byers' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Wiggins, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Byers didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Wiggins when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. Will Byers repeat their success, or does Wiggins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
