Softball Recap: Atmore Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Atmore Christian can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Santa Rosa Christian 21-14. The Rams not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th.

Ava Smoker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Atmore Christian got a massive performance out of Jenna Kennell, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Kennell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tamra Stoltzfus, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.

Atmore Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Atmore Christian will square off against East Hill Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Santa Rosa Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aletheia Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th.
