Recap: Orange County Fighting Hornets vs. Fluvanna County Flying Flucos
The Orange County Fighting Hornets's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Fluvanna County with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. Given Orange County's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Fluvanna County is ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orange County was led to victory by Janiyah Hackley and Laney Fayard. Hackley scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Fayard scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Keller Hines was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 16 rebounds.
Orange County's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Fluvanna County, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Orange County will take on Monticello at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fluvanna County, they will head out on the road to challenge Powhatan at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Powhatan is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
