Baseball Game Preview: Williamsport Millionaires vs. Selinsgrove Seals

The Williamsport Millionaires will face off against the Selinsgrove Seals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Williamsport nor Selinsgrove posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Williamsport fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against State College on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Little Lions by a score of 2-1. The Millionaires haven't had much luck with the Little Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Selinsgrove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Jersey Shore, falling 11-2.

Jake Beddall was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Selinsgrove's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't).

Williamsport's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Selinsgrove, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Selinsgrove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Williamsport has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for Selinsgrove, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Williamsport's hitters?

Everything went Williamsport's way against Selinsgrove when the teams last played on April 11th, as Williamsport made off with an 18-3 victory. Do the Millionaires have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
