Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against McHenry on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 64-57 to the McHenry Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-67 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Jacob Johnson, who posted 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Patrick Shell was another key player, going 6 of 13 en route to 13 points.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for McHenry, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Central and McHenry should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Central will challenge Huntley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 186 places (84 vs. 270). Meanwhile, McHenry (ranked 59th) will meet Prairie Ridge (ranked 393rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
