Volleyball Recap: Golden Gate's Undefeated Season over After Five Games + How To Watch

If Golden Gate was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Immokalee on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans fell just short of the Palmetto Ridge Bears by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Titans have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Golden Gate took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 19-17.

Azmerrah Burgess paced Golden Gate's offense, picking up 11 kills. Burgess got some help from Vicky Munoz and her 19 assists. Burgess was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Golden Gate fell to 4-1. As for Palmetto Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Golden Gate will welcome Naples Classical at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will head out to take on First Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
