Recap: Widefield Gladiators vs. Rampart Rams
The Widefield Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 78-52 loss at the hands of Rampart. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Widefield has suffered since December 11, 2023.
Despite the loss, Widefield still got an impressive performance from Michael Davenport, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davenport has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Andrews, who scored ten points.
Rampart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deangelo Smith, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Elias Bishop was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Widefield's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Rampart, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Widefield will take on Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harrison has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 275 points over their last four games. As for Rampart, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday.
