Baseball Recap: Marquette Catholic Comes Up Short

Marquette Catholic was the 4-3 winner over Gillespie when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Explorers fell just short of the Miners by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Marquette Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toby Eberlin, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Marquette Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Gillespie, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Marquette Catholic will take on East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gillespie, they will square off against Litchfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
