The Wabaunsee Chargers will take on the Onaga Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Wabaunsee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Wabaunsee was able to grind out a solid win over Chase County, taking the game 7-3.

Emmie Denton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Meredith Denton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Sarah Denton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Onaga). They put the hurt on Valley Heights with a sharp 24-3 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Willow Hochstedler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Hochstedler was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Addison DeChant was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annie Force, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Onaga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Onaga has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wabaunsee, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8.
Wabaunsee's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Chargers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Onaga, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wabaunsee continue to outrun the ball?
Wabaunsee suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Onaga when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
