Softball Recap: Beavercreek's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Beavercreek can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Springfield Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Beavers: when they faced off against the Wildcats on Wednesday, they had to take a 7-6 loss.

Viera Barrett made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Barrett was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makayla Shade was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Selena Knight was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Beavercreek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only posted a batting average of .320.

Beavercreek's record now sits at 8-13. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Beavercreek and Springfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Beavers will take on Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (378 vs. 138). Meanwhile, Springfield (ranked 408th) will meet Northwestern (ranked 167th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
