Basketball Recap: Bessemer City Comes Up Short

Bessemer City suffered their closest loss since February 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Burns Bulldogs by a score of 56-54. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burns to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Greene, who posted 20 points and six steals. Greene has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Emma Wallace was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Bessemer City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Burns, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bessemer City has already played their next match (against Highland Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Burns will take on East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Burns is facing East Gaston at the right time seeing as East Gaston is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
