Basketball Recap: David Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northgate over Fairfield

While it was all tied up 30-30 at halftime, Northgate was not quite Fairfield's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 68-60 to the Fairfield Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Broncos came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Falcons are ranked 237th).

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was David Harris, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points along with six boards and three steals. That's the most steals Harris has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Martin, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Johnnie Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fairfield, going 12 of 13 en route to 26 points and eight rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Amarre Davis, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Northgate is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-3. As for Fairfield, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Northgate will be playing in front of their home fans against Pittsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pittsburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Northgate likes a good challenge. As for Fairfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
