Volleyball Recap: King Comes Up Short

If King was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Humble on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kingwood Mustangs on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

King started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.

C'Ani Jones paced King's offense, picking up 13 kills. Jones got some help from Dawn Parrish and her 35 assists. Karen Jones controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

King has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-20 record this season. As for Kingwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-24 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. King will face off against rival North Shore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kingwood is set to square off against their familiar foe Summer Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
