Recap: Morse Shipbuilders vs. Medomak Valley Panthers

If the Morse Shipbuilders were riding high off their 58-37 takedown of the Belfast Lions last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Morse had to suffer through a rough 64-35 loss at the hands of Medomak Valley. While losing is never fun, Morse can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Medomak Valley is ranked 16th).

Morse's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Williams, who scored seven points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season.

Morse bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Medomak Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morse will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Spruce Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Medomak Valley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Yarmouth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Yarmouth has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three matchups.
