Baseball Recap: Discovery Comes Up Short

Discovery was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 13-5 to the Auburndale Bloodhounds. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bloodhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Conner Faulkner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Noah Frabotta also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Auburndale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery will take on Ridge Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Auburndale, they will face off against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Auburndale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
