Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Academy Rebels vs. Word of God Academy Force

The Riverdale Academy Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Word of God Academy Force at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Riverdale Academy has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Word of God Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

Riverdale Academy lost 47-24 to Briarfield Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Riverdale Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Briarfield Academy is ranked 124th).

Meanwhile, Word of God Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Faith Training Christian Academy on Friday, taking the game 47-36.

Word of God Academy pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Riverdale Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Things could have been worse for Riverdale Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Word of God Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Riverdale Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
