Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Spartans are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sebastian Mejia and Dominic Resendiz scored both of Godinez Fundamental's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Laguna Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past Summit 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Hawks were the better team in the second half.
