Basketball Game Preview: Challis Vikings vs. Leadore Mustangs

The Challis Vikings will challenge the Leadore Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Challis' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Leadore has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Saturday, Challis got the win against Clark County by a conclusive 76-53. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Challis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacen Farr, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points. Farr is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Ollar, who made all 5 shots he took for 10 points and three steals.

Challis was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Leadore took a blow against Watersprings on Saturday, falling 65-37. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Watersprings are ranked 31st).

Leadore's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Challis, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything went Challis' way against Leadore when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Challis made off with a 64-44 victory. Will Challis repeat their success, or does Leadore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
