Softball Recap: West Seattle vs. Ballard Beavers
West Seattle had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it six. They lost 17-5 to the Ballard Beavers. If West Seattle was looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to Ballard when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kaila Ignacio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
As for Ballard, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
On Ballard's side, Colette Howren was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Howren was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annika Jahn, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Wren Wald was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, West Seattle will challenge Ingraham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something West Seattle surely won't give up without a fight. Ballard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
