Baseball Recap: Plum Has No Trouble Against Franklin Regional

Plum had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Franklin Regional on Monday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-5 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Plum got a great performance from Braden Kemmerer as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Kemmerer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Enzo Mele, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Anthony Jump also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Plum pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Franklin Regional, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Plum will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
