Baseball Recap: Montwood Comes Up Short

Montwood came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-5 to the Eastlake Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-1 defeat back in March.

Joziah Gutierrez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaykob Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Montwood's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13-2. As for Eastlake, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15.

Coincidentally, Montwood and Eastlake will both be playing Franklin the next time they take the field. The Rams will head out to face the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will host them at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th.
