Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Interlake's Winning Streak

Interlake lost against Bellevue back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Interlake Saints lost to the Bellevue Wolverines at home by a 73-55 margin. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Wolverines are ranked 17th).

Despite the defeat, Interlake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eric Olteanu went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Henton, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Interlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

With the loss, Interlake broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4. As for Bellevue, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Interlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-54 win against Cedarcrest on the 25th. As for Bellevue, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-45 victory against Skyline on the 25th.
