Basketball Recap: Kenedy Falls Despite Big Games from DJ Williams and Tristan Mireles

Kenedy was the 92-57 winner over Woodsboro when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Kenedy Lions fell 66-55 to the Woodsboro Eagles on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Kenedy had strong showings from Tristan Mireles, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 21 points along with six assists and four steals, and DJ Williams, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 18 rebounds, and nine blocks. Those nine blocks gave Williams a new career-high. Karsen Reyes was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.

Even though they lost, Kenedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games.

Kenedy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-17. As for Woodsboro, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-14.

Kenedy has already played their next matchup (against Three Rivers), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Woodsboro will host Yorktown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
