Baseball Game Preview: Forest Hills Northern Huskies vs. Traverse City Central Trojans

The Forest Hills Northern Huskies will face off against the Traverse City Central Trojans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Traverse City Central will be up against a hot Forest Hills Northern team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Huskies never let Ottawa Hills get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly 15 runs.

Sam Garrett looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Forest Hills Northern is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Devin Tiedgen was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Parker Schramski was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Forest Hills Northern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

While Traverse City Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Boyne City on Friday as they made off with a 9-0 win. The game marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Forest Hills Northern's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Traverse City Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
