Basketball Recap: International Takes a Loss

International was the 71-68 winner over Indianapolis Shortridge when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The International Gryphons took a blow against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils on Wednesday, falling 79-19. The Gryphons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-10.

Evan Johnson was International's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Peter Machado held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Elijah Wilson was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 14 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven assists and six steals for Indianapolis Shortridge. Jordan Yates was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for International and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.

International didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-36 defeat against Bethesda Christian on the 17th. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pike at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.
