Volleyball Game Preview: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Los Gatos Wildcats

The Monta Vista Matadors will head out on the road to square off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Monta Vista is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Monta Vista will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Lynbrook, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Matadors narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Vikings 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Matadors have posted since April 5th.

Monta Vista took Lynbrook into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 26-28, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Los Gatos beat Harker 3-1 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Los Gatos had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.

Los Gatos' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. As for Monta Vista, their record is now 22-11.

Monta Vista suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Los Gatos in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Matadors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
