Softball Recap: Elsie Allen Lobos vs. Piner Prospectors
Elsie Allen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. Their rough 17-9 defeat to the Piner Prospectors might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Elsie Allen of the 17-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on March 7th.
For Piner's part, Rosie Prak and Julia Almaraz were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Prak struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Almaraz struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Prak scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4, while Almaraz scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Piner got a massive performance out of Mariah Membrilla, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. Membrilla has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mialynn Membrilla, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Elsie Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Piner, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elsie Allen will challenge Healdsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piner, they will head out on the road to face off against San Rafael at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
