Alexandria City takes loss despite strong efforts from Kye Robinson and Darius Bivins

Recap: Alexandria City Titans vs. John Marshall Justices

It was a good run, but the Alexandria City Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 73-61 to John Marshall. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (59), Alexandria City still had to take the loss.

Darius Bivins and Kye Robinson certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Bivins scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Robinson scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Bivins is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian "CJ" Washington, who scored nine points.

It was another big night for Damon Thompson Jr, who scored 39 points along with five assists and five rebounds for John Marshall. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson Jr has scored all season. Latrell Allmond was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Alexandria City's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for John Marshall, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Alexandria City will head out on the road to challenge West Springfield at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. West Springfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Alexandria City is ranked 13th). As for John Marshall, they will be playing at home against Freeman at 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday.
