Softball Recap: Slippery Rock Gets the Win

Slippery Rock's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Franklin Knights by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rockets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Joslyn Korcok made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Belle Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lillian Campbell, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Slippery Rock's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Slippery Rock will head out on the road to face off against Grove City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will challenge Jamestown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
