Baseball Recap: Maurepas Extends Winning Streak to Three

Maurepas entered their tilt with John Ehret on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the John Ehret Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in February.

Alex Aime and Kade Penalber made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Aime tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Penalber struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Maurepas is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. At the plate, Aime got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI, while Penalber scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Aime a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Dugas, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jonah Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Maurepas' victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for John Ehret, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
