Football Recap: Havelock Takes a Loss

After flying high against Richlands last Friday, Havelock came back down to earth. The Rams took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Croatan Cougars on Friday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Despite the loss, Havelock saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andrew WIlliams threw for 103 yards and one touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards.

Croatan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Boucher, who rushed for 96 yards and one score, and also picked up 42 receiving yards.

Havelock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Croatan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Havelock is set to challenge their familiar foe West Carteret at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Croatan will face off against rival Northside - Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
