Hilltop is a perfect 10-0 against Edon since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cadets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bombers at 7:00 p.m. Hilltop is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Hilltop needed a bit of extra time to put away Blissfield. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Royals 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cadets have posted since April 20th.
Sophia Crossgrove was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.
Meanwhile, Edon was able to grind out a solid victory over North Central on Friday, taking the game 6-3. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Alexis Breier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison Ogden, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Edon's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Hilltop, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.
Edon's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Hilltop has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Edon, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Hilltop keep running through batters, or will the Bombers buck the trend?
Everything went Hilltop's way against Edon when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Hilltop made off with a 15-1 victory. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
