Football Recap: Archbishop Carroll Comes Up Short

Archbishop Carroll is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. Mary's Ryken. The Lions were beaten by the Knights 42-7. Having soared to a lofty 43 points in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.

Even if they lost, Archbishop Carroll's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Khalil Mohammed, Christopher Wallace, and Joseph Douglas, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in St. Mary's Ryken's side was MohaMMed, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.

Archbishop Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Archbishop Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they will face off against Bishop O'Connell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's Ryken will be up against Bishop O'Connell's rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
