Softball Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Arcadia Titans        
        
		
            
 The St. Mary's Knights will be playing at home against the Arcadia Titans at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
 St. Mary's can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game  last Wednesday. They won by a  run and slipped past Mesquite  16-15. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
  Gabby Pantoja was  incredible,  going 4-for-5 with a  home run, two  stolen bases,  and four  RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted  at least one  stolen base the last four times she's  played.  Giahni Ruiz was another key contributor,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and a  stolen base.
 Meanwhile, Arcadia came tearing into  Wednesday's  game with six straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged the Wolves out  2-1.
 The team  relied heavily on  Sydney Kelley, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
 St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Arcadia, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record  this season.
 Friday's   matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Mary's has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 St. Mary's suffered a grim  16-6 defeat to Arcadia  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023. Can St. Mary's avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
