The Cornerstone Christian Crusaders will head out to take on the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. Cornerstone Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, everything went Cornerstone Christian's way against Calvary Baptist as Cornerstone Christian made off with a 12-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won nine in a row.
Cornerstone Christian let Ben Frazier and Jesse Villicana run wild. Frazier scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Villicana went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Frazier has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Meinardus, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Santa Rosa Academy put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for San Jacinto Valley Academy. Santa Rosa Academy was the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over San Jacinto Valley Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rangers.
San Jacinto Valley Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Maxwell Dupree, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up a single walk). What's more, Dupree gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Morace, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Santa Rosa Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Nate Bock was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Cornerstone Christian's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Everything went Cornerstone Christian's way against Santa Rosa Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Cornerstone Christian made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cornerstone Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
