Baseball Recap: Thousand Oaks Comes Up Short

Thousand Oaks fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Westlake on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-7. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Thousand Oaks saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dane Holt, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Holt is becoming a predictor of the Lancers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). James Luderer was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Thousand Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Westlake, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Thousand Oaks will face off against rival Newbury Park at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Westlake is set to square off against their familiar foe Oaks Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.4, the Lions 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
